What to bring for carp and catfish fishing
Spain offers all the equipment needed for the serious angler, although we still recommend that you bring certain terminal and clothing items with you so you can get straight on with the fishing. This page details the recommended items for fishing on the Ebro for cats or carp.
Main Fishing Tackle

On the tackle front, we can provide you with top quality cat and carp equipment. Our cat equipment comprises a Sportex rod and Shimano multiplier loaded with braid. All the terminal gear is available at excellent prices at our tackle shop in Mequinenza.

If you are a carp fisherman, then we can offer superb package including all the essentials less your terminal gear.

Depending on the package you have arranged with us, tackle is provided free of charge or can be rented at reasonable prices.

Catfish Tackle Bait

If you are carp fishing, we recommend that you pre-order your particles and boilies through us. If you want we can introduce them into a suitable area prior to your arrival so you can get stuck into fish more quickly. We are currently using the superb Icelandic Red (Caviar and Cranberry) and Aminol Acid (Strawberry, Condensed Milk and Sweet Cream) by the Carp Company. These are really doing the business. Prices of boilies and particles vary depending on your requirements and we can advise you of these options when you book.

Halibut pellets are becoming increasingly popular for catfish, who now recognise these as a valid food source on both the upper and lower lake. These pellets in the smaller sizes are also extremely effective for the carp.

Terminal Tackle

Terminal tackle for Ebro carp and catfish are available from our office in Mequinenza should you need to stock up on bits and bobs. For carp, we recommend a heavy duty continental hook of around size 4-6. Mainline should be at least 15lbs and of high quality. Rigs are usually quite straight forward, and the "snowman" is recommended.

Cat rigs comprise of a hair / bolt for pellet fishing as well as free roving and fixed (buoy) livebait rigs.
